Room 9's trip to the Waitakeres

On Tuesday the 8th of March rm 9, rm 8 and half of room thirteen went on a trip to the Waitakeres. (THE BUS TOOK ONE HOUR TO GET THERE!!!!!)
We were going to go on the rain forest express train and go for a bush walk. Rm 9 went on the express
train first and rm 8 and half of rm 13 went on the bush walk first. Before we left anyone who needed to
go to the toilet had to go in a long drop .On the rain forest express train you saw 11 tunnels.
You went through 9 of the tunnels and saw two tunnels on the side. In one of the tunnels there were glow
worms they (seriously) looked liked little green stars twinkling in the night sky. We also saw a water pipe
that had exploded. At half way we stopped for a toilet break. On one of the outside basins there was a big
brown spider the man who was helping with our group said the spider was fine to pick up so my mum picked it up
the spider actually had two fangs and the spider stuck the fangs into her finger she said it felt like having two injections
in one finger at the same time.The train the carried on taking us to a dam. When we arrived at the dam we were at the bottom
of it so we had to climb these really steep stairs to get to the top.
We were huffing and puffing and our legs were so tired when we made it to the top.
(it was also freaky climbing up the stairs you thought you were going to fall). When we looked down the
side where all the water was we saw a dead bird and it was pretty BIG!!!! After our 20 minute break we set off on
our bush walk. The bush walk took 40 minutes. At the end everyone was tired so we just had a
nice hour long bus ride back to school. I learnt that the Kauri snails are carnivores (meat eaters) and that their favourite food is
earth worms and that they come out after dark. I also learnt NOT to pick up brown spiders with fangs like
the one we saw.

The History of the telelphone.

The 'box telephone' was invented in 1876 by

Alexander Graham Bell when he was 29 years old.

All telephones now have a part to speak and

a part to listen to. In the olden days telephones

used to have a long part then a open part and

the open part where you speak into.

then a wire from the phone with a open part on

the end where listen to what the person

on the other end is trying to tell you. When

Alexander was experimenting with telegraph

instruments in the early 1870s, he reliased

it might be possible to transmit the human

voice over a wire by using electricity. Alexander

was interested in this which he was

motovated by and with the help of Thomas A.

They were able to make the first

telephone.

By the summer of 1877 the telephone had

became a business which was called the

Bell Telephone Company. But the future we now

have Iphones, Blackberries and more.
